Today I had wanted to write something good, so I do, that for something the blog is mine. I know that after so long without writing a few people will look, but is good here.
For starters I will say that today is March 13, an obvious if you look at the update date, and the 45th anniversary of a sad fact. On March 13, 1964 died murdered Susan Catherine Genovese, known as Kitty Genovese. About 3:15 o'clock in the morning of that day Kitty car parked about 30 meters from the door of his apartment. When he approached the door was attacked by Winston Moseley, who stabbed her in the back. Kitty screamed for help, a fact that was heard by several neighbors, but a cold night with the windows closed, few recognized the cry for help. Only someone shouted from a window "Let that girl alone" (leave the girl alone.) Moseley ran away and Genovese slowly tried to reach his apartment, but was seriously injured.

According to a article that appeared two weeks later said a neighbor saw the attack but decided to wait to call one for not being involved. In other media have commented that there was a neighbor who came the sound of your radio will not stop hearing the screams for help.
Genovese's case sparked reform of request for assistance to the NYPD.
psychiatric tests suggested that the murderer of Kitty was a necrophiliac and his motivation was merely to kill a woman. He was sentenced to death, now serving a life sentence and will have its next review of sentence in 2010.
Shortly after Genovese's death became studies on the dispersal of responsibility. Milgram's experiment being the best known, though Milgram began their studies before the death of Genovese. The case of Kitty Genovese is present in all the books in social psychology.
Kitty's story has permeated American culture. Kitty Genovese's name has become a symbol of the dark side of American society who are too scared, indifferent or withdrawn to be involved in helping a man in grave danger. The term "Genovese syndrome" was coined to describe this attitude. The scene from the movie "Halloween" in which Jamie Lee Curtis runs down the street for help while being chased and is ignored by the residents is based on this case as well as an episode of "Law & Order" in 1996.
The comic "Watchmen" recalls the story of Kitty. A few weeks before her death, Kitty Genovese ordered a dress Walter Joseph Kovacs of tissue that had invented the Doctor Manhattan. A Genovese did not like the dress and refused to pay Kovacs staying with the web. When he read the murder of Kitty in the newspapers Kovacs created a mask with the dress and became Rorschach.
