The Wall of Pink Floyd
Wednesday November 11, 2009.
Library Media Room
is a film from 1982 directed by Briton Alan Parker, based on the Pink Floyd album The Wall 1979. The screenplay was written by lead singer Roger Waters.
The film is highly metaphorical and rich in image and sound. It is characterized by having no dialogue or a fixed storyline, and all history is reflected through the songs of Pink Floyd.
The film contains 15 minutes of elaborate animation sequences created by the illustrator Gerald Scarfe, part of which describes a nightmare scenario based on a passing attack Germans over England during World War II.
The film makes a gradual reconstruction of the personality of Pink Floyd. Since the beginning of the film shows events that contribute to increased of social resentment and depression, Pink. Overprotection of the mother, the abuse of English education, his love problems, lack of a father, war (the father of Roger Waters died during the war, so Roger portrays much of his own history in this film) are events that help get involved in Pink " madness" as the only means of protection against attacks against him. Born as the figure of the wall, which symbolizes his own repression and exclusion from the normal progress of society.
Pink Floyd passes through several stages of dementia are evident in the film. From the fool who destroys his hotel room and shave all body hair, to a militant dictator who takes any decision absurd. Exploit these situations for a huge social commentary showing how the other men follow a crazy game, whether on pallets or in the capitals, and people becoming less build its own personality.

Trainspotting is a great film, which has all the power of rock & roll and drugs and fuel that feeds the whole aesthetic of the nineties
Trainspotting with unusual speed has known success in his native island, England and Europe. And it goes way to becoming a cult film. Adapted from the novel the same title, written by Irvine Welsh (Scotland, 1958) and published in 1993, has caused a massive identification of youth. The international press has rockets exploded and spilled ink on her sick. Either to praise or to raise dusting. And is that for some Trainspotting can be understood as an apologia for a lifestyle that leads to self-destruction, if one is unable to be limits. In that sense the film offers a profound reflection on the use of drugs, but is a contemporary fresh, heartbreaking, on the consumption of 'hard' drugs (heroin, ecstasy, etc). The intense internal and external struggle carried out by one of the key players to undertake a detoxification, and its subsequent failure, vigorously illustrate this situation. Trainspotting
makes a difference to the prevailing intellectual social realism in European cinema today. Nothing here seems to be real and yet, everything is true at the same time.
